"Who's unAmerican!" - 1947 pamphlet issued by Food, Tobacco, Agricultural & Allied Workers Union of America C.I.O.

1947 Pamphlet issued by FTA-CIO addressing the tactics of HUAC, who would use the sensationalism of anti-communism and "reds" in the capitalist press to discredit union organizing and the CIO. The pamphlet asks "Who is unAmerican?" and discredits members of the committee who in Congress have voted against the right of American serviceman to vote overseas and against the Fair Employment Practice Commission (FEPC) that would have banned discrimination in Federal employment and wartime industries for African-Americans and other minority workers. 17. Committee on Un-American Activities. (a) Un-American Activites (b) The Committee on Un-American Activities, as a whole or by subcommittee, is authorized to make from time to time, investigations of (1) the extent, character, and objects of un-American propaganda activities in the United States, (2) the diffusion within the United States of subversive and un-American propaganda that is instigated from foreign countries or of a domestic origin and attacks the principle of the form of government as guaranteed by our Constitution, and (3) all other questions in relation thereto that would aid Congress in any necessary remedial legislation.
